Laundry.

I LOVE my screened in porch. Mainly because it's where my porch swing hangs. My babes have all, at one time or another, fallen asleep on my shoulder while on that swing...I have hopes of swinging grandbabies to sleep on that same swing one day. The problem with my porch was that the rug that sits out there...the one that helps anchor the room and makes it feel like an extension of the living room (I've watched HGTV a time or two :)...was FILTHY!

So...off to the laundromat my three and I went...because who wants to pay for a rug to be dry cleaned?! Not me! Armed with a bag full of library books, an erector set, and snacks (always snacks) we would have a lovely time. It felt like an adventure...an 'outing'.

And then I ran into mommas doing laundry there...not their rug...their clothes.  It's a practical thing, doing laundry, I sit in front of my TV watching some silly daytime show...fold it all...pile it up....put it away (ok...so I often let my sweet husband put it away...I have a hard time getting it into the drawers...I don't know what my problem is!!!?) so that we can continue to have clean clothes to wear. This task I do every day. But rarely do I give thanks for those loud, rumbly machines. Rarely am I thankful for the luxury of washing my clothes just 20 steps from the drawers they sleep in. Well, today I'm thankful.

And I'm thankful for projects like Laundry Love. We have dear and wonderful friends here in Arkansas who ensure that nights like this continue week, after week, after week. We've been a few times....what a difference these devoted ones are making by loving and caring, befriending people.

So...I've done 2 loads already today...and 2 more wait on the floor to be washed. But this evening I fold with a heart full of thankful.

Hope you had a great day! It was beautiful here!
Have you heard of Laundry Love?
Anyone else have trouble putting the laundry away?!

  3. LOVE this! Such a great reminder of the things we take for granted each day in our lives of excess while so, so many would just be grateful for a few quarters to put in one of those machines. And yes - my clothes must be related to yours because they are also struggling to find their home in drawers and closets!
    LOVE you and keep blogging!

  4. so happy you stopped by from ashley's blog. I love your blog and photography *swoon*. I'm following you back and hope to get to know you better! I feel guilty because I have posted about my issues with laundry here http://nataliensor.blogspot.com/search?q=laundry and even mentioned it as part of my resolution here http://nataliensor.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-year-new-me.html. Great post and will totally be seeing folding in a whole new light. Thank you.
